I remember the respiratory therapist coming in to do the breathing test. Eli was with me, sat with me, and encouraged me during what felt like over an hour. 

The therapist would instruct me, “Okay now big deep breath.” 

I would give it my all every time, but when the test was completed I did not pass. I was devastated and began to cry. I did not want another surgery, but more importantly I wanted to talk again! She and Eli tried to encourage me by explaining the procedure and how small the scar would be. I still wasn’t happy. The doctor then came in the next day and had Eli sign the release form. Surgery would be scheduled for 12 pm the next day (Wednesday).
